Summary of Key Duties:

The Quality Specialist position inspects materials, parts and other components for Marten Machining, which are designed to ensure continuous production of high quality machined components that are consistent with established standards, customer specifications, and production goals.  The position is a working/hands-on technician.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a high level of internal and external customer service.  Investigate (and Correct)    customer issues and complaints related to quality.
  • Analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards required and the establish quality and reliability expectancy of finished products are met.
  • Document and maintain quality control standards and on-going quality control objectives.
  • Coordinate quality objectives with production procedures in cooperation with production management to maximize product production reliability and minimize costs associated with rework.
  • Verifies specified dimensions of product or material.
  • Implement inspection criteria and procedures and document findings.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, diagrams and confers with management or engineering to determine quality and reliability standards.
  • Provide and oversee inspection activity for product throughout the production cycle.
  • Interact with the purchasing team and vendors to ensure the quality of purchased parts and raw materials.
  • Operates all metrology related equipment, software and other measurement devices.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • While performing duties associated with this position, the employee is exposed to machining environment, while fully environmentally controlled, may have fumes associated with the process, along with moving mechanical components and noise level associated with a production/metal fabrication environment.
  • While this is primarily an office position, some lifting of components, measurement equipment, bending, standing and ability to walk around the production environment as necessary. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision.

Key Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of precision parts manufacturing process and the quality control systems necessary to maintain expected tolerances for high-quality part production.
  • Knowledge of using and maintaining a variety of precision inspection equipment including hand tools, gage devices, surface plate and coordinate measuring machines.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and 13485 quality management system standards.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Skilled at and enjoys operating in a smaller work environment where being a self-starter, and a team player is important skills.
  • Demonstrates the ability to be self-motivated and is comfortable working in data-driven environment with tight timelines for producing and delivering product to the customer.
  • Demonstrated lifelong learner of new technology, and the skills associated with operating in a state of the art quality control system.
  • Able to work with cross-functional work teams

Education and Experience:

  • An Associate Degree in a technical area focused on manufacturing, measurement systems or other related technical areas such as math, quality management, computer science.
  • 1- 2 or more years of experience working in a precision parts manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated experience working with a quality management system and process for a parts machining manufacturer.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

  • Qualified candidates must be authorized to work and live permanently in the United States

    • Operation of equipment for manufacturing runs of finished parts
    • In process and final inspection of finished parts
    • CNC program creation and modification
    • Fixture creation for manufacturing
    • Using PowerERP database to track manufacturing functions and create product related records

     

    Skills Required

     

    • Machinist position requires the following skills and knowledge of operation of manufacturing equipment including:

      • CNC Mill

      • CNC Lathe

      • Manual Lathe

      • EDM

      • Surface Grinder

      • Band Saw

      • Pallet automation

      • Knowledge of creation and modification of CNC programs

      • Knowledge of proper use and application of measuring tools

      • Ability to understand and interpret technical drawings and other customer specifications

    Summary of Key Duties:

    Shipping, Inventory, General Maintenance – Works with the Operations Team to support Shipping, Receiving, Inventory management and General Maintenance functions of the business. This is an entry level position with potential for advancement to other higher level operations roles.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    • Schedule shipments and assist with loading/unloading shipments of parts, tools and materials.
    • Identify tools and materials upon receiving to accept into the company database system.
    • Pull parts from inventory to package and ship to customers.
    • Package and ship fragile parts of various sizes and shapes using creative methods to ensure parts are delivered undamaged.
    • Assemble and build wooden shipping containers.
    • Use computer systems and database programs to carry out data entry, shipping, receiving, and stocking operations. Use database system to locate items, track missing items, and fix inventory errors.
    • Use computer systems to monitor and track inventory levels and generate purchase requisitions when necessary.
    • Maintain organization and upkeep in shipping/receiving, inventory and manufacturing areas in the facility. This will include sweeping, mopping and cleaning in and around machine tools.
    • Maintain facility equipment used for service and material handling.
    • Perform spot maintenance (sweeping, snow removal) on outside sidewalks/pathways to exterior doors.
    • Maintain inventory of laundered items and coordinate with laundry vendor to maintain inventory.
    • Maintain stock levels of general shop supplies.
    • Coordinate with supervisors to maintain stock levels of tools and consumable items.
    • Help organize and assemble finished parts and assemblies.
    • Help organize and catalog inventory items.
    • Perform routine miscellaneous tasks throughout the entire facility.

    Skills Required

    • Experience using computer programs to complete basic daily job functions such as email, spreadsheet applications and shipping software.
    • Experience using database software for daily job functions.
    • Ability for critical thinking and problem solving as well as identifying potential problems and finding solutions.
    • Being detail oriented when dealing with shipping, inventory, and computer database tasks as well as dealing with mechanical concepts.
    • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with supervisors and co-workers.
    • Have an understanding of math and math-related concepts.
    • Basic understanding of inventory methods and practices.
    • Have an understanding of shipping and part packaging methods and practices.
    • Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
    • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

    Education Requirement

    Associate Degree, Technical Diploma, or Bachelor’s Degree required.

    Pay Range 14.00 to 16.00/hour

     

    Summary of Key Duties:

    The Manufacturing Technician is responsible for supporting manufacturing. Individuals in this position are a member of a multi-person supporting the operation of a CNC automated production cell. Typical team would be composed of a Team Lead, Setup Machinist(s) and this position. The Manufacturing Technician is the entry level member of the team performing a variety of functions under the direction of the more experienced members of the team all associated with the operation of the machining center.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Operates a Zoller pre-setter, which measures tool sizes/ tool lengths to .0001
    • Operates a Haimer tool shrink machine which is used to clamp tools in the appropriate holders on the CNC milling machines
    • Loads proper cutting tools in appropriate holders for specific job being run on the machine
    • Cleans and maintains tool setting area of the production cell
    • Maintains standard tool assemblies that are ready to be used as needed depending on components being fabricated
    • Maintains, cleans, organizes all standard tool holders
    • Manages and updates tool setup data required for maintaining manufacturing records for each job that is run
    • Maintains separate and standard data logs on an electronic system for each specific job that is run including inputting the appropriate job specific data on the companies’ ERP system
    • Performs on-going process and dimensional inspection of parts during the production cycle including visual inspection to ensure individual part quality standards are being maintained
    • Operates a variety of shop hand tools including band saws, deburring equipment, media blast and parts cleaning equipment
    • Prepares raw material for production, specific to the unique specifications for each order that is being produced
    • Use the ERP program to track work order information and processes that are to be followed for specific component production requirements

    Work Environment/Physical Demands:

    • While performing the duties associated with this position the individual is exposed to a machining environment, while fully environmentally controlled, may have fumes associated with the process, along with moving mechanical components and an elevated noise level associated with a production/metal fabrication environment.
    • Individuals in this role will routinely lift items up to 50lbs and periodically items up to 75lbs, though lifting equipment is provided and most heavy lifting is performed using hoists
    • Eye sight must be sufficient to read shop drawings, visually see the equipment, tools, parts being worked upon, though corrective eye wear is acceptable.

    Key knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Demonstrates the ability to be self-motivated is comfortable working in a data driven environment with tight timelines for producing and delivering product to the customer
    • Detail oriented individual with above average problem-solving skills
    • Enjoys working in a smaller environment where being a self-starter, team player are critical aspects of the job
    • Requires at a minimum a high school senior skill level in reading, writing and math
    • Demonstrated ability to operate computers and use standard programs and software that modern manufacturing companies use to operate the business
    • Solid mechanical aptitude and spatial recognition skill
    • Ability to use Inspection equipment including a micrometer, caliper, square, etc.
    • Able to use standard shop tools, lifting equipment

    Education and Experience:

    • High School diploma with demonstrated production and metal machining or parts fabrication experience is required
    • An Associate Degree in machine tool, mechanical design or similarly related education would be preferred
    • 2–3 years of total work experience, including related experience that may have been obtained prior to graduation from school
